A militant vegan activist has been exposed as a hypocrite who secretly flogs designer leather handbags on eBay.

Rafal Mysakowski, 41, littered the Scottish Highlands with messages painted on rocks, such as: “Be kind to animals or I’ll kill you”.

He bragged about his campaign to place offensive graffiti on top of 282 mountains, including Ben Nevis, on an Instagram account called “bloodthirsty_vegan_sausage”.

One tagline spelled ‘Meat’ with the acrostic ‘Murder Evil Agony Torture’, and in another post it referenced Will Smith’s Oscar outburst with the phrase ‘Keep my animal friends out of your fucking mouth’ .

Now it can be revealed that he rakes in thousands of leather handbags from his flat in Edinburgh.

He has earned £5,677 from 63 items – all Gucci or Burberry – since January. They are marked ‘100% Authentic’ and ‘Vintage’, mostly from the last 20 years, which means they are genuine leather.

The most expensive was a Gucci messenger bag that sold for £550 on March 5. The listing read: ‘Excellent condition – used only a few times, no signs of wear’.

Her highest-grossing Burberry item was a £255 cross-body bag described as being in “very good condition”.

Mr Mysakowski had a busy day on February 5, selling eight bags for £459.90. Just hours after the hammer fell on the last article, he posted ‘leave the cows alone’ after driving up the Grampians for his campaign.

Burberry has come under fire from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) for becoming one of the last fashion houses to ditch fur in 2018.

Peta also attacked Gucci in a hard-hitting investigation last December, which showed workers decapitating lizards to make handbags.

It read: “The lizards’ legs are tied, then they are brutally thrown and decapitated without being stunned – causing them a prolonged and excruciating death.”

Mr Mysakowski has taken advantage of both brands while throwing vegan slogans on around 100 of the 282 Munros – Scottish peaks over 3,000ft – so far. Other hikers confronted him and his wife Katarzyna, calling them “criminals destroying nature who should be reported to the police”. Ramblers Scotland and Mountaineering Scotland urged him to abide by the ‘leave no trace’ policy in the area – but he ignored them.

Hillwalker Anne Butler was shocked to find a stone with “Be kind to animals or I’ll kill you” scrawled on it. She said: “Whatever your beliefs, leaving them painted on a cairn on a remote peak in Munro is nothing more than an act of vandalism.”

Mr Mysakowski’s Instagram profile picture is a cartoon of a hooded figure wearing a slasher mask and wielding a bloody knife, roses and a love heart reading “f*** you”. While he appears to make a living through the online auction site, his wife is listed as an accountant on LinkedIn.
