DETROIT — Nearly 700 counterfeit designer handbags have been seized by police after a suspect tried to sell a fake Louis Vuitton handbag to an undercover officer, officials said.
The “Big Fake Bag Bust” occurred around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 in the 12700 block of West Eight Mile Road in Detroit, the Detroit Police Department said in a news release. The suspect attempted to sell the bag for $150 to an undercover agent from the DPD’s Vice Enforcement Unit.

Authentic Louis Vuitton handbags cost thousands of dollars.
In addition to allegedly peddling counterfeit goods, the suspect did not have a vendor’s license, police said.
Nearly 700 fake bags and wallets, along with a 2012 Chevy pickup truck, were confiscated as evidence in the case, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
“This is a reminder that DPD will pursue all criminal activity,” the statement read.
