Jamaica wins 5 awards in WTA Caribbean and North America program

Jamaica once again received international recognition at the World Cup 2021 To travel Caribbean Rewards & North American program, winning five trophies at the ceremony held in Dubai. Jamaica won first place in the following destination specific categories: # 1 Caribbean destination, # 1 Caribbean cruise destination, # 1 Caribbean adventure travel destination, # 1 Caribbean nature destination, and First Caribbean tourism board

Commenting on the accolades, Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, said: “We are extremely pleased and honored to win these accolades. Winning five categories of the prestigious World Travel Awards is a remarkable achievement for our beautiful destination, especially in light of the current climate. As a destination, we have worked diligently to improve our offerings in order to attract millions of tourists to our shores. We are extremely happy that our hard work has paid off; we do not take this victory for granted. On behalf of all my colleagues at the Jamaica Tourism Board, I would like to thank all the travel and tourism professionals, as well as the travel consumer-buyer sectors who voted and contributed to our success.

Jamaica welcomed returning visitors at her beautiful shores because the country borders reopened in June 2020. The island’s extensive health and safety protocols, developed in collaboration with authorities in the health and tourism sectors, were among the first to receive Safe Travels recognition from the World Travel & Tourism Council.
