Osman Bukari provided the assist that helped Nantes defeat Lorient 1-0 away in the Ligue 1 exit on Sunday.
The Ghana international had replaced Moses Simon in the 83rd minute and two minutes later his first involvement saw him prepare Wylan Cyprien for the winning strike.
Having won none of their last five league games, the Yellow House went to Stade du Moustoir – with the ambition to end their bad streak.
From the whistle of referee Ruddy Buquet, Nantes showed their intention to win but it was the hosts who dominated the possession of the ball with the Nigerian Terem Moffi causing a few moments of panic.
Fifteen minutes into the game, Moffi missed the opportunity to end his side’s drought, as he unleashed a shot from the edge of the box just off the left post.
A clever heist game by Enzo Le Fee had given the Super Eagle a great chance, but his strike was remarkably finicky.
Ahead of the half-time break, goalkeeper Alban Lafont was called into action as Moffi’s coiled strike looked intended for the lower left corner, but a strong stopper palm prevented the home side.
Continuing where they were in the first half, Lorient started the second period from the forefoot and attacked the Nantes baseline in numbers.
They came very close to taking the lead but Dango Ouattara could not benefit from a promising run by Igor Carioca.
However, it was the visitors who had the last word in scoring the winner seven minutes from full time by Cyprien, to the anguish of Christophe Pelissier’s team.
Cameroonian Jean-Charles Castelletto and Congolese Samuel Moutoussamy were in action from start to finish for Nantes, while Malian striker Kalifa Coulibaly was replaced by Man of the Match Cyprien in the 64th minute.
For Terem, he was replaced by Adrian Grbic with eight minutes remaining after an unproductive evening. Burkina Faso star Dango Ouattara played the 90 minutes.
With this result, Nantes climbed to 13th place in the standings with 22 points from 17 matches. For Lorient, they remain in 16th place with 15 points from the same number of matches.
