‘Chaos’ at UK airport as travelers return home without luggage. Holidaymakers reported that Manchester Airport was chaotic this weekend.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Manchester Airport descended into chaos over the last weekend of February. Travelers had to fill out forms and their luggage would be sent to them later.

Some vacationers had waited more than five hours to collect their luggage.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the airport blamed the delays on problems with handling agents.

A passenger revealed the problems she had faced. The passenger said hundreds of bags were left in the baggage claim area.

The passenger commented: ‘I just thought it was absolutely outrageous. It’s people’s business, you know.

“There were distraught children everywhere, people who needed medicine that was in their bags.

“There was only one member of staff at reception who had to take care of everything.

“Ironically, we kept hearing this message, a looping security alert saying ‘stay with your bag at all times’, which really took the biscuit.

“We were given this form to fill out and they would send it back to us within about three days, depending on where you live. You just had to describe your bags as best you could.

“You were also not allowed to come back the next day and pick it up.

“I looked around and wasn’t convinced I would get him back, so we decided to wait.”

The returning vacationer had to wait about five hours to collect her luggage. She said: ‘By the time I got mine the number had dwindled, probably to around 50 people.

“Most were gone. I’m just completely baffled by this.

“We are not a third world country.

“It’s a major international hub. They’ve spent millions on this new terminal and can’t even master the basics.

A Manchester Airport spokesperson said: “We are aware that due to problems with one of the handling agents operating at Manchester Airport, some passengers have had to wait an extended period of time to their luggage to be delivered on Saturday evening.

“We want all passengers arriving in Manchester to have the best possible experience and we will continue to work with our handling agent partners, who manage the baggage process, to ensure it is as smooth as possible.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
