DULUTH, MN. (CBS 3 Duluth) – – A Ukrainian woman, who now lives in Cloquet, puts her life on the line to save others.
She returns to her war-torn home country with 10 bags of much-needed medical supplies in the coming weeks.
Galyna Tuttle is a brave and humble woman.
“People who give are heroes,” Tuttle said. ” They save lives. It’s not even me. I am only the messenger.
Tuttle felt a call to make the trip after speaking with her niece, who is a doctor in Ukraine, and said there was a desperate need for donations there.
“People, when they heard there was the possibility of drugs coming, were like, ‘Are they gone yet? Have they already left? When do they arrive? “said Tuttle.
Galyna asked her community to help her with what she could, and she kept her promises.
She received so many donations that they have now decided that her nephew, John Tuttle III, will join her on the trip to help carry all the supplies.
Friends and family say they are proud of the heroic efforts Galyna and John are making for the people of Ukraine and are confident they are doing the right thing.
“I believe God will protect her because God sends her and when God sends us somewhere he promises he will take care of us,” friend Rebecca Ahlstrand said.
The support of her community keeps Galyna strong.
“I’m excited,” Tuttle said. “And I couldn’t do it without the support of friends and community.”
Although they no longer require donations for medical supplies, you can still financially support Galyna and John here (link) so they can check all bags and buy food and other supplies for Ukrainians while they are abroad
